News: TTDI Residents Determined to Seek Justice to Save Park as Mayor and DBKL Keeping Mum on Case

Sep 7, 2017

After filing a case against Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Mohd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) residents revealed that the High Court has set their stay application to stop the development order for the proposed development in Taman Rimba Kiara for a hearing on 12 October.

The residents’ judicial review application is seeking from the court an order to quash a conditional planning permission and a development order granted earlier this year by DBKL to property developer Memang Perkasa.

The proposed housing development, which will include the construction of a flyover and a six-lane highway, comprises eight blocks of between 42- and 54-storey luxury serviced apartments as well as a 29-storey block with 350 affordable housing units that will be set aside for TTDI longhouse residents.

The park stakeholders had protested the development since the project was made public in 2016.

Save Taman Rimba Kiara Working Group committee coordinator, Leon Koay noted that the court had recognised the urgency of their application.

“However, September dates are full because of the (number of) holidays in the month,” he said.

“The deputy registrar has also set timelines for both parties to file affidavits over the next few weeks.”

Meanwhile, Mayor Amin Nordin declined to comment on the issue.

“We have to wait for the court. We are not allowed to issue any statement,” said the Mayor.
